BBER Consulting

The Bureau of Business and Economic Research (BBER) has been conducting socioeconomic research on a wide range of topics relevant to New Mexico's policymakers since its founding in 1945. BBER staff members have training and experience in:

  • economic modeling and forecasting
  • demographic research, population estimates and projections
  • statistics and econometrics
  • economic and fiscal impact analysis
  • survey research
  • qualitative analysis, including focus groups
  • data sources and searches
  • public service and data dissemination
  • regional economics, planning and land use
  • state and local government taxation and finance
  • labor, poverty, health care economics and social policy

BBER staff knows New Mexico. We have worked with communities all over the state and have extensive contacts in and out of government. We understand the structure of state and local governments and their finances. We know New Mexico data and data sources. Indeed, the BBER's Data Bank serves as a clearing-house for all socioeconomic and census-related information in New Mexico and publishes the monthly New Mexico Business, Current Economic Report.

BBER creates an economic forecast for the entire state and the larger metro areas four times a year. The forecasts are sold to clients of the forecasting service, and are also packaged in newsletter format and sold to the public on a subscription basis. A limited amount of forecast data is available for free. We have more information about becoming a subscriber to the service and a sample of the FOR-UNM Bulletin available.

BBER also does contract research on topics including population and demographic estimates and projections, economic and fiscal impact analysis, state and local government finance, policy research, and community and regional economic development. Links to publicly-available publications of our research are also available.
