In September 2010 the Census Bureau revised their June 2010 release of estimates for incorporated places through 2009. The preliminary estimates for 2009 were revised along with the 2000 to 2008 estimates. In addition, 2009 estimates for five places in the state were revised again to account for revisions associated with boundary changes what were not fully incorporated in the initial revisions released in September. We've formatted the tables listed below from the data published by the Census Bureau. The Excel file contains all the tables you see posted here in descending order (2009-2000), plus tables with the same data in ascending order (2000-2009).
Note: The July 1, 2009 population estimate for New Mexico, published by the Census Bureau (2009 round of estimates) is 2,009,671. This represents an increase of 10.5% since April 1, 2000. UNM Geospatial and Population Studies* (GPS) analysis indicates that this growth rate is low in light of other economic and demographic indicators for the state. The GPS estimate of 2,098,266 for July 1, 2009 shows a 15.4% increase from April 1, 2000 to July 1, 2009. We have GPS alternate county and city population estimates posted as well.
