The U.S. Dept. of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), publishes quarterly and annual data for covered wages. The links below take you to tables we have prepared with annual data for 2001 to 2007.
We also post an Excel file with all years from 2001 to 2007 for New Mexico and all counties.
Definition of covered wage and salary employment.
PLEASE SEE THE IMPORTANT NOTES AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE.
NOTE 1: Previously on this web site we posted data as published by the New Mexico Dept. of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS), formerly the New Mexico Dept. of Labor. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) conducts additional rounds of revisions to their wage and salary data sets so we have replaced our previous wage data tables from NMDWS with data from the BLS. Revisions are generally minor. However, for the sake of consistency 2007 data should be combined with 2001 through 2006 data from this series rather than the previously-posted series.
NOTE 2: Data from 2001 through 2005 do not include employees of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Workers at LANL were employees of the State of California and were excluded from New Mexico and Los Alamos County covered employment counts because they were covered under California unemployment insurance laws. However, in June 2006 Los Alamos National Security, LLC (a group of private and public organizations) replaced the University of California as the management and operating contractor at LANL. Because of this change in lab management, LANL was assigned to the professional & technical services sector and lab employment was recorded in this wage database for the first time. Thus, from June 2006 forward average annual covered wages for New Mexico and Los Alamos County, along with wages in the professional & technical services and total private sectors, are not consistent with data for prior periods.
